Pro Bono Assistance Opportunities in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Kentucky

Friday, June 24, 2022

The United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky has an ongoing need to provide counsel for indigent litigants in certain civil cases. Members of the Court’s bar are invited to volunteer by submitting a Pro Bono Attorney Application.

Those admitted to the Court’s pro bono counsel panel will join a roster of volunteer attorneys from which the Court will make civil case appointments.  Pro bono counsel will be asked to represent indigent parties in civil litigation after the Court has preliminarily evaluated the case and made a determination to seek counsel for the unrepresented indigent party.

Attorneys representing indigent litigants pursuant to the Court’s Pro Bono Civil Case Protocol may seek reimbursement of allowable expenses up to $1,000.  More importantly, they will be providing a valuable service to their client, the Court, and their community.
