Recruitment Notice for CJA Trial Attorney Panel and CJA Mentorship Program Participants

Pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act of 1964, as amended (18 U.S.C. § 3006A) (the “CJA”), the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky has adopted a plan for providing representation for any person financially unable to obtain adequate representation in certain circumstances.  The plan provides for the establishment of a CJA Trial Attorney Panel of private attorneys who are eligible and willing to be appointed to provide representation under the CJA as well as the establishment of a CJA Mentorship Program for attorneys who meet the qualifications for CJA Panel membership generally, but who lack sufficient trial and courtroom experience for full admission to a CJA Panel. 

From March 1 through March 31, 2023, the Court will be accepting applications from private attorneys interested in serving as members of the CJA Trial Attorney Panel or who wish to participate in the CJA Mentorship Program.  Applications will for a panel will be accepted from attorneys who maintain an office anywhere within the District, however, applications for the Mentorship Program is currently limited to attorneys with offices in the Bowling Green, Owensboro, and/or Paducah Divisions.  See the official notice here.
